Currently, we are hiring Construction Operations Manager in both our Santa Maria, CA and Titusville, CA offices.
This Operations Manager's role in both of our locations will have responsibility and accountability for Project Execution related to all Bragg Crane & Rigging projects managed from the Branch. This includes but is not limited to: safety performance, financial management such as project specific cashflow, profitable job margin, labor force management, indirect costs, and overall supervision of Project Management staff. This position requires excellent communications skills and the ability to provide clear and concise project updates to management.
As the Construction Operations Manager you will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders. This includes the Bragg Crane Services Manager and other personnel that operate from the Santa Maria Branch.
These exciting leadership roles will support the growth of our project business across a number of different industries, including Space Launch, Power Generation & Transmission, Theme Park construction, PetroChem, Bridge and Heavy Industrial Structural Steel, plus additional specialized projects dependent on location.
Responsibilities
Safety - promote a culture of safety and safe work practices. Ensure all employees and processes remain compliant with company safety policies, OSHA, environmental regulations, and other required Federal and State laws. Ensure department compliance with corporate safety program and policies. Seek support and advice from company Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) subject matter experts.
Quality - ensure work is done with the highest standards and compliant with requirements and procedures. Support continuous improvement in areas of project management and project execution.
Leadership - lead and manage construction and union staff in safe, professional execution of all assigned projects. Provide coaching and training for continuous learning.
Financial Management - deliver profitable results for all areas of responsibility in accordance with agreed plans.
Project Managers - work with Project Managers to deliver projects to agreed commitments. Work with Project Teams to address safety and project challenges as they arise. Maintain a field presence to understand progress of projects, build relationships and coach staff as needed in the execution of work.
Ensure a clear understanding of project status, issues and challenges. Maintain performance against agreed metrics of assigned projects.
Strategic Input - work with managers to develop strategic priorities and delivery of actions that support growth of this branch. Support corporate level improvement initiatives.
Risk Management - ensure all contracts are reviewed at the department level for Scope of Work, Job Site Conditions, alignment with Proposal T&Cs. Ensure timely communication with all company stakeholders regarding contract changes. For projects deemed higher company risk, work alongside project managers to maintain a risk register with mitigation plans and actions.
Customer focus - support customer relationship management aligned to contract delivery, long term customer relationships and growth of the Bragg Business.
Contract Assurance - understand contract requirements and ensure project delivery in accordance with agreed systems and processes. Where necessary support the development of procedures and process to ensure delivery.
Requirements
College degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or a related field required. 5 years of construction management experience required. 10 or more years of direct management experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree, dependent on structure of work history.
Proven experience as a manager of complex simultaneous projects across multiple customers in the construction field, with full P&L responsibility.
Outstanding organizational, communication and leadership skills.
Experience in complex, multidisciplinary, heavy industrial construction projects; preference to DoD and other government agencies both Federal and State
Participation in national construction trade or construction management organizations is preferred.
