Position Overview:
In order to effectively finish the bid package and create a healthy work flow that supports the company's operations, it will be your responsibility as an estimator to prepare every aspect of the bid process. When it comes to bids, you will be the main point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Key Responsibilities:
30-45 days and ongoing:
Learns about the relationships this role has with project management, operations, subcontractors, vendors and clients.
Becomes familiar with Accubid, LiveCount, Bluebeam and how the estimating team utilizes it by shadowing a more seasoned team member.
Learns to analyze department data and how it applies to bids by shadowing the Estimating Manager or another seasoned Estimator on the team and asking insightful questions.
3 months and ongoing:
Leads the estimation/bid process on 1-2 projects (varies in size) from start to finish (between $1MM-$5MM).
Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter (per project), blue sheets, evaluations with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rates and productivity with little to no guidance.
Mentors and leads 1-2 Junior Estimators and delegate tasks to utilize resources effectively. Conducts regular follow-up to ensure clear expectations.
6 months and ongoing:
Has won at least 1 project that a bid was created for and is able to manage smaller projects (less than $10MM+) from start to finish.
Actively seeks out training opportunities to work on more complex projects and troubleshooting tactics that are unknown or unpracticed.
Begins to mentor and coach other less experienced team members, and is open to taking on a mentorship role within the organization.
12 months and ongoing:
Manages larger projects ($10MM+) from start to finish and shows the ability to take on more complex projects as needed.
Fully independent and displays the ability to use sound judgment and proactively considers how to best support the team by taking the initiative to help teach and build up others.
Is able to manage 3-5 projects varying by size and complexity.
