Salary: $110k-$130k DOE + benefits

Position Overview
The Special Machine Designer is responsible for designing and developing custom machines and mechanical systems that meet specific customer requirements. This role involves the creation of layout drawings, 3D and 2D modeling, and understanding detailed blueprints to support manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring high-quality standards and efficiency in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom machines according to customer specifications.
• Create layout drawings and 3D models using CAD software, particularly NX.
• Collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
• Conduct data analysis to inform design decisions and improve machine performance.
• Troubleshoot design challenges and provide technical solutions during the design and assembly phases.
• Prepare detailed blueprints and documentation for manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Participate in assembly cell design and component design for efficient production workflow.
• Utilize design techniques to optimize machine design for performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or Associates degree in related field.
• 3+ years experience in machine design and mechanical design, ability to modify 3D/2D models for Kits, create new designs, develop Kit sheet.
• Proficiency in CAD software, especially NX.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and controls, assembly strategies, assembly cell functionality.
• Experience with custom machine development and layout drawings, understanding of fixturing, part handling, housings and components.
• Familiarity with data analysis and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders, coordination with vendors, understanding of standards.
